The conversation around African Americans hair is continuing to be racially targeted and for the younger generation specifically are not backing down but this can be exhausting and I am not sure if other races deal with this same issue.

Xiomara- that is an excellent point and I have had many of my students ask that very question. We have to continue to push for space to be our authentic selves.

I'm so appreciative of this forum and the various perspectives that were introduced. As a social worker in a diverse population in Chicago, I see these inequities daily. I will implement what I've learned today to ensure that my students feel valued and allowed to be authentic. THANK YOU!
