I have been doing "readiness" or "reading" quizzes that just examine whether they looked at the material. Then they have master quizzes after we have covered material all week. These require application and use of the terms they learned prior.

One key point to highlight for our discussion today is the technique of requiring some sense of lower order thinking/mastery in order to participate in higher order discussion. We'd also love to discuss any of the particular suggestions we've made in this presentation.
