Prep the shell to be helpful

Having an introductory Zoom the first week helps to provide additional organization and reassure students regarding expectations.

For freshmen class, their first assignment is a timeline of their life. So I present MY timeline on Powerpoint - which I tell them will be MUCH longer than theirs - which includes photos and such.

ON ZOOM - introduce your pet

Learning is _______. The student fills in the blank with one word that encapsulates what learning means to them. I then share my answer and discuss my philosophy on teaching.

I use Announcements and then put the same message into a course email to all students

Can you please post a canned message that I can put in an email that walks students through on how to set up Notifications?

Student Questionnaire, handful of questions. Career path?Working? Hobbies/interests? clubs/organizations? What are you passionate about? What do you want out of life?

Separate note- When a student gives me feedback such as- my screen share is not up for a power point I'm discussing- I thank them and tell them I need a "Wingman" and recommend that they feel free to take on this role throughout the live ZOOM course.
